My name is Julie van Mooi, and I live in the quiet heart of the Netherlands. I am an artist by nature, with a professional background shaped by a multifaceted career in international business. Alongside this path, languages have always been at the core of my personal and intellectual interests.
I studied English Literature at university. After relocating to the Netherlands, my focus shifted primarily toward building my business career. In recent years, however, I have consciously returned to my passion for language learning. I am currently preparing for the Dutch C1 examination, dedicating my time outside of work to advanced language study. Through this website, I share practical Dutch learning insights, structured language notes, and reflections on everyday life within Dutch culture.
Arriving at Schiphol for the first time felt like stepping closer to the world of Vincent van Gogh, Anne Frank, and W.F. Hermans—alongside the iconic tulips and windmills that shape the Dutch imagination. By reading, reflecting, and engaging with the Dutch language, I continue to deepen my understanding of a culture that is both understated and richly layered. Despite its modest size, the Netherlands offers remarkable cultural depth and creative vitality.
With my Chinese roots, I understand firsthand how challenging it can be to enter a society shaped by a different linguistic and cultural framework. This experience allows me to approach language learning and cultural integration with empathy and realism. I believe that meaningful progress is achieved through consistency, curiosity, and openness. Language is not merely a skill to be mastered, but a bridge toward genuine belonging.
On this platform, I aim to provide learning tips that are practical, focused, and immediately applicable. In addition, I share my artwork as part of an ongoing creative journey, with the aspiration to grow professionally as an artist over time.
